This was weird. A dead cow with some kind of towing rope around its neck. One of two things has happened here. 1) Rednecks have done this on purpose and killed this beast for fun 2) The cow has been hit by a road train and ended up in the middle of the road and someone has had to drag it off by using the rope. Either way, it was pretty dark. Looked like an empty pantomime suit.

Monkey Mia is full of wild Emus on the lose. Hungry emus and travelers tasty delights dont mix. They have thieving down to a “t” and made short work of our ham and cheese sandwiches and crackers. Most see them as pests, but getting this close to wild flightless birds is worth the loss of some wheaty products. Another australian wild animal ticked off the list.

Do you like free things? we do too. The bloke we picked up on our travels (disco dave) wanted dropping off at Monkey Mia and had mentioned he had a mate there. Well, turns out he was the captain of this boat and not even 2 minutes out of the van, he had us shipped on this amazing catamaran ……for free. It was supposed to be around £100 each. Its not what you know……………

From the front of the boat, eagle eyed pearson spotted a dugong, dolphins and tuna fish……

Our comfy seat. Strange at first but pretty therapeutic.

Shark Bay Aquarium

We didnt really want to post things like this, as i guess its a bit un natural, but you have to check out these aquatic characters, some cheeky, some ugly,some deadly but all pretty darn special. If you do ever get to this side of the globe and your here, check it out. its a small reserve in the middle of a desert setting but next to the sea, sounds weird huh?

Stromatolife

So here we are at the beginning of life itself. Part of the Shark Bay World Heritage site is this epic landscape. The rock-like formations are called Stromatolites. As I’m no David Attenborough, here’s a link if you want more information; http://www.fossilmuseum.net/Tree_of_Life/Stromatolites.htm

This is area is also home to the venemous stone fish pictured below. These blighters blend in with the rocks and can kill if you step on them with your cheesers.
