Yanchep National Park and Two Rocks
New found freedom saw the tour really begin with an immediate escape from perth 45km north to a national park in a sleepy town called Yanchep. Leona finally got a gimpse of her first wild hopping 6ft rabbits, they even put on and “X” rated show for us later in the day…..nice. Way to much happened inside the national park so heres a quick bit of coverage of the days events which included koalas sitting in sprinkler systems to escape the blistering heat, clever bugger.

spiders that looked as though they had escaped from the ledgend of Zelda video game on the N64,

The fella above fell into my staged apple trap. I set up my camera on mini tripod, dropped a bit of juicy granny smith and let nature take its cause. You cant tell from the photo, but this guy was massive. About 2-3 times bigger than the ones we have in the uk.
Here is our first and not last sighting of wild kangaroos. (as you can probably guess im well behind on the blog, and i can assure you we have some kangaroo stories.) At night when we went to the loo in the pitch dark with only a torch at hand, it felt like blair witch but with roos. All you could see was handycam style eyes and ears.
We ended up staying over in the forest and Leona tested out a shortcut to the toilets in the deepest darkest depths of night only to be stopped in her tracks by a web as wide as a doorway. Sat in the middle was a white spider with go faster red bits…..without a torch in hand she would have surely fallen victim to this odd beast.
Check out below a swimming snake that turns out to be one of the most deadly and aggressive snakes in the country, the tiger snake. No one can believe how close we got to this legless lizard. Check it out on google or wikipedia. Obviously we had no idea, but these snake have been know to attack car tyres. They are scared of nothing.

The view from where we set up camp. Im not a keen fan of sunset pictures, but couldnt resist this one. Stunning although the photo doesnt do it justice.

Me taking a photo of leona taking a photo of me.
